In those small creeks fly rods are obsolete as there is no need to cast when a creek is 10 feet wide and the fly line spooks fish. Spin rods with a fly and bobber or jig is more productive and less frustrating in my experience

My favorite style of fishing! Did you make that staff, as that has become an essential part of my gear? I have an old hiking stick reinforced at the tip with some seine twine and epoxy to keep it from splitting. Headed back up there in two weeks.

Really enjoyed this as I do the same. Was up in early June, still some good runoff but found some nice fish in one of those small creeks. I was fishing my 3 wt. and just tight lining.one small weighted nymph. Had a blast and only saw one couple walking by…..the way I look at it is, if you catch fish, that’s the bonus, but if not, the scenery and solitude make up for it !
