If you put the heavier nymph at the point and put the lighter fly as the dropper (closer to the indicator), your cast should straighten out with fewer tangles. It works just like a dry / nymph rig.
I feel like combo fly and indicator type set ups are not meant for the narrow, alder enshrouded streams where you have to break down your rod to travel along stretches of water.

Learn a surgeons it’s so simple and attach the top fly to the tag end and another to the butt section of tippet much better

Bare bone basic approach that simply catches tons of fish. Only difference is, I don't use a strike indicator most of the time.
