Fished with my dad as a kid, he was a great angler! Bucket of fish brought home from surf perch to catfish. Pretty sure he used drop shot rigs and Carolina rigs. 2026 this year I’ve got back into fishing a Carolina rig, and have caught over 20 fish these past two weeks in the saltwater from the rocky shorelines. Even a PB 16 inch spotted sand bass on a size 6 hook using a 3/8oz sliding egg weight. Definitely depends where you are fishing, for the amount of weight to use! I’ll have to say this video is very helpful for those who want to try Carolina rigging! What lb mainline and leader line will for sure depend on what area you are fishing and targeting!
I use this rig on my catfishing gear, it works so good for catfishing except your using way heavier gear like I fish rivers and I use a 5oz egg sinker a bead and big swivel,I use 100lb braid to an 80lb mono leader because there are so crazy snags and I'm using a 10/0 hook
WOW! What an awesome instructional video this is.. As a beginner, Ive learned more from this one video about the "Fishfinder / Carolina" rig than watching hours of other vids.. Thank you sooo much and greetings from Greece 🎣🎣🎣
I am completely new to fishing and have watched a ton of videos And yours is the 1st one that I can say was incredible was incredible in terms of detail for a beginner so please keep doing what you're doing!!!
i agree with 90%,I'm an old man and I've used Carolina rig all my life. i fish from a John boat and use the rig as a cheap fish finder to save time. i drag it fast like a slow crankbait. it pinpoints exact location of small branches and rocks . bottom changes. then i use a Shakey head or a jig as a follow up
I’ve fished the Carolina for a long time. The video is spot on very nice guide. I use the Carolina rig as a kinda depth finder and structure finder. You’re right you really can feel the whole bottom of the lake, feeling the difference of sand and mud is easy with this and a good rod
A former American president appears in this video. Can you find him?

I hate to say this but a background audio is nothing more than a broken cane it won't help you a bit
When using a Carolina rig for pond fishing, should I open the bail and do a free fall countdown to check the depth?
(Even though I can’t feel bites during the fall)
Seems like a texas rig would work so much better for bass fishing. I use carolina rig for cats but when bass fishing i use texas rig.
👍👍
Can you explain the difference between a carolina and texas rig and why you would choose one over the other
Great video brotha
Add a bobber stop in front of the knot and one after the weight. Thank me latter..
Good Stuff…. Excellent Graphics…Thanks !
Using sliders gets on my nerves always getting tangle up on me

i forgot, fish sometimes eat the sinker. so i replace the sinker with a one ounce flipping jig and have a two for one special
