If you walk along the Columbia river, as I do often, as I fish it regularly, you can see old broken rods in the river. The banks along Trail, are littered with bags from Canadian Tire and Wal Mart. Even old reels, which I grab. Styrofoam worm containers, and miles, yes, miles of line.
Each time I go out, I bring a grocery bag, up to a garbage bag full home. Timmy's cups, paper and plastic. Rotten Ronnie garbage. Old chairs are common now. Never mind the empty beer and cooler bottles. Yep, bottles. .. Empty beer cans by far outnumber the bottles, thankfully. You can sit on the rocks anywhere, and watch boaters as well as shore fishermen throw empty liquor bottles into the lakes and rivers. No evidence, no impaired charge I guess.
I guess the difference between an angler, and someone who fishes is anglers bring garbage out with them.
All our local fisheries are turning out more garbage than ever.
I have even had my life threatened by supposed fishermen for telling them to take their garbage with them.
So yep, times are changing. As#$oles outnumber good people everywhere now.
Iβve been fishing the Kootenay for five years and itβs taken me 3 to finally get the hang of it and almost catch fish every time. I wish got a guide to show me the runs and techniques but at the same time Iβm glad i did so I could fish my way and not copy some guide.

I love the Columbia river I have fished it all my life and have caught so many different species of fish from this river.
imagine how David Thompson felt floating this river for the first time.. goosebumps
Cool video. Motoring up river with waders on but no life jackets doesn't seem like the best idea.

Feel more Lel. If they want to run let them run. Strong fish.
I remember to lose some bigger trout as well when I began to fish as a kid.
Buen video. Las imΓ‘genes muy bonitas.ππ

Thank goodness…I was beginning to think the good fishing was OVER five years ago. Not many recent posts.
Rainbow trout? the only 2 fish i go for are sea trout over 40cm and steelhead. Maybe monster cuttroat! but Rainbow trout are a dime a dozen.
Can you drift a corkie
More river. More fishing. Less talking.
Vast majority of fly fisherman are men but let's put women in most of our videos so we can corner the market. LOL
