Only time you can see the fish in the river I fish is if they jump. Dark water, soapy suds on top around any shallows, rapids or weirs. Still some brown trout and eels, but the river nearest me is poisoned AF, used to be completely dead. Going to take decades of restoration to get to the point you're at.
