The solution I’ve found recently for keeping hands warm, are nitrile gloves. Then just wet the gloves before grabbing the fish. Make sure to carry a couple pairs for when the inside eventually gets wet. They keep your hands from getting dry and cracked too.

For keeping your hands dry how about using a quick release tool like the Ketchum brand? I've been wondering how well it works. It also seems that it would be much better for the fish since you wouldn't have to lift it out of the water where its gills could freeze.

I keep a hand towel stuffed in my wader pocket to dry my hands off after handling/releasing a fish. Simple solution I know, but dry hands are much easier to keep warm.

One thing that I do, being in Western NY, is bring a kitchen or small bathroom towel and keep it in the front of my waders. It will stay warm against your body. I use the fleece Simms foldover mitts as well and they have been the best for me but after you remove them to release the fish, a warm towel to dry your hands is essential. Back to swingin flies with warm hands in no time! Another great video

The fact that using email is considered old school makes me feel ancient. Thanks for these videos! They always have great information while reminding me how much fun (and how funny) fly fishing can be.
