Good advice. Exactly as Lefty used to say. There is no other sport in which you use your arm(s) solely. You use your whole body to hit a ball, throw a javelin, discus, etc. The arm/hand is simply the part of your body you use to hold the bat, rod or whatever with. Why should fly casting be any different?

In search of the magic 100ft cast. I can cast 75ft pretty accurately but when I go for more i cant get the line to shoot effectively. Just doesn't seem like I can get that energy into the line to get it to really pull out and shoot with force. Every once in a while I'll get one to really shoot but I'm not sure what I'm doing differently. Opened up my stance, reaching pretty far on back and front cast, hauling as much line as possible. I'm getting good turnover, good loops. Tried varying the effort into my casting arm but I'm not really sure what to do to get that last 25ft. I know shorter, more accurate casts are more important but I bass fish alot on the fly so a good bomb cast would be useful to me. Thanks!

I found out using an open stance, your body is rotating during the cast. Especially the long casts. Watch your back cast loop and you'll see it go all over the place. The loop is not (almost) in one plane but it's moving in a horrible wobbly & 'opened up' loop.

I prefer a more closed stance and rocking back and forward to keep the loop more or less in one plane. Less wind resistant so line speed keeps up
