Dam bro i swear 1 more year ima grind for a gucci setup cuz my old shit got robbed eveything gone, houston dont play now i got like 4 rods wit booty reels. Then MY FUCKING TACKLE GOT WET WIT HARVEY BULLSHIT!!!
I'm looking to buy my first conventional reel setup for the surf here in Texas. Don't know much about conventional reels. Any recommendation on a rod and conventional reel setup for casting double drop rigs. I wanted to try a conventional reel to see if I can get greater casting distance. If I had a 1k budget what would you recommend either for 1 or 2 setups.
1 thing Ill say, its almost never a bad idea to get out there if you have the time, I've caught the wrong big fish in all the wrong conditions on several occasions. Just dont burn yourself out or get frustrated on those days, it just is what it is. May get lucky tho
I don't live in Houston so doesn't make sense for my gear to be expensive if I drive down from Dallas only a few times a year. Got some retractable Cabela's fiberglass Big Water rods, definitely super entry level but super cheap and come in 10, 12, 14 foot sizes. For a cheaper spinning reel which one would you recommend Daiwa Laguna 5-BI 5000 reel or Daiwa Emcast Plus Surf 5000? They both look similar but the Laguna has the ABS Spool, DigiGear, and 17 lbs of drag and the Emcast Plus has the ABS Spool, 5 extra ball bearings and 33 pounds of drag. Any input or feedback would be appreciated, thanks. Is the DigiGear that good that I should go with the Laguna and forego the extra drag of the Emcast Plus? Reel capacity seems about the same. Also, have a Fin Nor Mega Lite in 60 size that seems good but feels a little loose when I reel and stop quick if that makes sense. Your videos are very good and informative. Some other channels from fishermen in the Texas coast area are more about themselves and not about information like your channel. Keep up the good work.
New sub from Aransas pass. Been focusing on the ICW lately. Catching bulls on before the ferrys. Cut mullet and whiting. I use that Carolina rig cept my leader section is longer. About 16-18".
How do yall fish for these monsters?
Had to delete the other vid and re uploaded, sorry.
They've been in THICK these past few days at 61st pier. Went last night and saw at least 40 pulled in through out the night it was crazy!!
Thank you brudda! This is an excellent documentary! I think I’ll stick to spinning set up. Your awesome 👍🏼
Where's a good spot to catch redfish in Texas?
Thank you!! Good video I use pretty much the same as you, so you think crab all year round ? Crab is pretty much candy right?
Great video! When you say east wind, do you mean coming from the East and blowing west?
Great video!!! Subscribed!!!

Awesome tips man.!! Do you have a Facebook… I’m new to fishing and wanted to stay up to par on the tips..?
On the gear section. You have a spinning reel setup on a Diawa rod. Is that 9ft rod a medium heavy or medium?
Man dude you have good videos.
How do you know all this stuff what books do you get your info from?

Nice video man. I always carry a 6 ft super spreader cast net when I'm fishing. Live mullet or cut mullet works best when fishing skinny water!
