@akintomeatloaf i also have never fished a nymph or more than one fish but i have never needed to. I will often beat most fisherman who have been fishing over 50 years just simply by using the flys thats arent traditional but usually represent what is in the water much better for example in august I caught 32/35 fish on a pattern i made which represented a perch fry and which the other fly fishers thought wouldn't work ill upload the video soon so you can see it
So the "on point" he was referring to when choosing which fly to be where was the bottom, correct?
