“The perfect cast” quote made me love your channel even more. So glad to see your channel thriving so much and of course with Caleb right there with you.
Couple of things. Every cast and retrieve starts with the rod tip down by the water. Gauge the 10 to 1 with your thumb. By that I mean your thumb looks like it is on the side. It should be on the backbone of the rod and use it to gauge cast. Point it to the target
Hey do you know, Chris and Q wood, well I am very good friends with them, but I do a ton of fly fishing and ice fishing, so if your ever in Colorado just lmk if you want to learn some more stuff!
Salesman is an idiot. Medium action rods are not easier to learn or fish with. Should of told you to get a fast action. Especially for how much you student to give you that medium action classic trout was just gross.
You guys should look up Venture Fly Co's series on how to fly fish. They break it down throughout multiple videos and make it easy to understand for someone who has never fly fished before.
In my opinion your presentation is the most important thing. If your drift looks unnatural they won’t bite. I will say as well nicer rods will show you imperfections a lot more than a cheaper rod when casting so technically starting with a cheaper rod could be better!

It's not the rod, it's the man behind it.
