Just wanted to let everyone know that Walmart online has the Ugly Stick GX2 as well speaking of which will any of these rods be able to land a big trout cause I'm fixing to go somewhere where I almost caught a very huge trout but it didn't make it (granted my biggest mistake wasn't having a net with me) but I'm just wondering if a slightly better rod might remedy this?
I just bought the BPS micro lite rod 6”6 with a shimano Sedona 1000 reel. I got the med light. Do you think it would be worth going back and trading in for a UL or L?
I’ve had the okuma CHD 2500A for the last 5 months, I am looking to upgrade. What rod would you recommend for stradic 2500 that is reasonably easy to get your hands on? I’ve tried looking for the okuma guide select pro in my country (New Zealand) but no results. Any info would be much appreciated, cheers mate.
Stella is not worth it my brother. A better option at half the price is daiwa presso LT 1000 s-p This reel is lighter and functions very similar if not better than Stella. As far as rods go Phenix elixir is pretty decent but they have some faulty blanks from time to time and they will brake on you if you look at them sideways. G loomis has a great line up or just spend a little extra and get the Phenix dragon fly 🍻
Great info! I just purchased an Okuma CE-S-962MLb rod for salmon fishing this year in Michigan. I was testing it out yesterday since I’ve never had such a long rod. And I was telling my nephew about the sensitivity of this rod and said that if a fish’s lips even graze the bait I would know it so I was cracking up at your analogy of a fish “breathing” on the setup in your video would be detected lol. Have you tried any of G. Loomis's trout rods? I have the TSR 791 paired with a Shimano Sustain 1000 and its amazing. the TSR rods are no longer made but I hear the GCX Lite models that replaced them are excellent as well.
umm well also in the 40$ price point i love uglysticks grew up on em but i mean you can get a 7ft ul shakespere micro series for like 20$ in store also either get a shimano fx1000 22$ roughly or a sienna 1000 30$ fyi only diffrence is looks and 1 ball bearing added in the sienna they have the same gear train but reason i bring this up is the micro rods are everywhere and i have a 4ft 6 yeah i know its short but i got the combo on clearance for 10$ at the walmart i work at lol and caught like a 4lb carp on and tons of fat big river bluegill BUT they sell the 7ft ul rods for 20$ or so dollars and then an fx is a better reel than an uglystick reel the rods are great the reels not so much !!caution inspect the rods thouroughly for cracks and stuff in the blank if it has none your good they are pretty stout if you play out the fish

I got a UGLY Stick GX2 medium heavy with Ugly reel 4000 for bass and catfish one piece for $59 bass pro shops or Cabela's like in my city. I'm very happy with it is my better rod other one's in in higher price I have not seen a big difference in bringing fish.
Your high end rod pick was bougee. G loomis makes some excellent trout rods in the 3-500 dollar range and they leaps and bounds above anything on this list. The Stella is a flex reel honestly. But it is the best. So a g loomis rod and a Stella would be the crème de le creme of trout rods.
You’re recommending China rods, ultimate rods are the Shimano JDM rods, G.loomis GLX and St Croix legend series

I prefer the Akuma AV-2500 over the President and the Akuma is around 35.00

The rod is made from carbon if you drop as you mention..the rod would not break but the guides will…correct me if I am wrong.

Recommend, a shorter rod for small, brushy streams.

Bought the Celilo based on your review and I LOVE that rod. Paired it with a Shimano Sahara 1000 with 8lb braid.
6'6 Okuma Celilo paired with Okuma C20 or C30 Ceymar reel. Cant beat it.

I have a St Croix trout series 5'10" rod paired with a Shimano 2000 twin power reel.
Can you also catch salmon and or catfish on any of those rods??
