Been canal fishing for about a month now and finally caught 3 perch this week. Bought all different lures but the one that did it was a 3g jig head with a 4cm green micro fry from fox rage. My brother used the same lure and got a perch, 4 small pike along with a decent one that must of been a few lbs and 30/40 inches( no tool to weigh or measure length)

Hey can anyone in the comments help please. My 11 yr old wanted to get into fishing, I know absolutely nothing. I dont some research and ended up spending ยฃ200 on kit for flaot fishing. We soon relaised it wasn't much fun spending the day trying to tie knots and put kn weights and loosing hooks not to mention sitting on the river all day it just wasnt fun for an 11 Yr old. However everyone else seemed to be doing this lure fishing walking the banks, casting our and moving on. This looks much more fun. Im trying to take the advice in this video on what to buy but im still struggling. I can't find 0.08mm braided line? The lines I can find are very cheap? The rods are either expensive or dirt cheap? Can someone point me in the right direction. I dont mind what I spend I just want to be able to grab a couple of rods and get out with my son and have fun. Thankyou

Simplest course of action involves only two steps. 1, buy 3/4 oz spoon that is either yellow or white. 2, go chuck it into the nearest waterbody that holds pike. This is basically how I learned to fish at the age of seven. Me and my younger brother would head to the river by ourselves with just our fishing rods and a small tuperware container with a few spoons in it. We also usually had a red wagon in tow, wich was used to haul home a few pike for dinner.

Great vid, many thanks. Me and my boy are new to this fishing. I bought a 10-30g rod (possibly by mistake) . Wanted an all-rounder, canal, pond, light sea.. watching though, think I should have bought a lighter rod if I want to do what youre doing here mostly. Do you think I could make it work without another rod purchase?

my local canals are very snaggy and don;t have a lot of good spots to cast from so lots of ledges a few feet away covered in stuff etc. So I''ve found jstuj a little los of sensitivity by going x4 with a 12lb line is what works best for me. My canals tend not to be to murky either so you can see fish really well which helps. And to compensate for the sensitivity I use an 8 foot drop shotting rod for my lures and spinning and you can feel everything from it.

Another brilliant tutorial guys – thanks! I learnt so much from it and have even made notes for me to refer to in the futureโ€ฆ Canโ€™t wait to start my lure fishing career/adventure in 2026! ๐ŸŽฃ๐ŸŽฃ
