i actually purchased a wrangler based on the MRO review. It is just an average rod, nothing special. Doesn't cast that great. Has some delamination at the joint ferrules. I think what this is is simply a case where a reviewer is paid by a manufacturer and says whatever they tell them to.
Why do they change the handle of the 6 weight rod when it’s sold separately vs when it’s sold in the kits? Is there any way to get the kit with a full wells handle on the 6wt wrangler rod?
My first fly rod was a redington topo. Wife broke the tip. Next was the cross water. Its the only rod iv been using for the past few years. I didnt know redington was viewed as “cheap” till a old timer flicked me shit for using it. For the price and quality i dont think ill change. I just ordered the wrangler only because i found my grandfathers old system1 456 reel.
So I’m new to fly fishing and I was looking at the reddington field kit 5wt 9foot or the wrangler 5wt 9foot so I was just wondering if the price difference is worth it because I don’t want to buy the wrangler and be disappointed and then buy another combo

I don’t care what you can or can’t afford or if you think a rod MUST have a heavy price tag and the most expensive guides and reel seat/insert money can buy..If you took this rod out of my hand and didn’t look at the make and model and just took it for a 30 minute test drive, brought a few fish to your net, you would almost certainly think that you had a rod that cost well north of $500 in your hand. It really is that good. Really.
Is the hardware better than the Vice? The aluminum seat completely broke apart on me when I was removing the reel. I’m curious if the hardware is better than the vice
I have a closet full of Sage, Scott, G-Loomis, and Orvis rods. I bought a Reddington for my son to start flyfishing and it is an awesome rod! I will be adding some to my collection soon!
Hi Mike here from sunny Alberta Canada. I liked this episode so much that I have ordered a Wrangler #5. Christmas present from me to me lol. Slowly replacing my old two piece rods makes traveling a lot easier . Great show keep up the good work.
You earned my subscription one question I do have is would this rod be able to handle pinks or silvers I just bought this and have never fly fished before but am really into salmon fishing at the moment
Over 5 decades I have owned and enjoyed tier 1 gear . Hurricane Katrina washed it all away and now I prefer these prebuilt kits . These new kits are well conceived and effective . Simply put friends , Fish dont know or care what We spent for Our equipment . I say grab a kit or two and just go fishing ! Bonjour de Louisiane Mes amis partout !
This is my favorite "Truck" combo to take along on any trip where I might be able to sneak in some fishing. Great setup. Line comes with pretty bad memory, so either fish it out or replace if you're in a hurry.
I guess this makes me a little concerned with the warranty for the Path rods. I suppose if I ever need to RMA the rod, and the Wranglers are what they have that closest resemble the Path, would it be correct to assume they would replace the Path with a Wrangler?

Got this for bass fishing here in Louisiana to upgrade my old kit, which I gave to my son.
I thought I’d have upgraded to something a bit pricier, but my experience has been so great, I just stuck with it.

I own at least 15 different fly rods and my two favorite rods are my Redington Crux 9’ 5wt, and my Redington Predator 9’ 8wt. They are both excellent.
Anywhere in Europe where I can buy Redington and the like?
Has Brian / Madd River ever given a negative review of anything?
In the future, I'm hoping that Redington will throw in a pair of Wranglers with the Wrangler. If so, I'm in.

Whats your take on the Trout XL bs say an Echo Traverse? I am super torn on these 2 rods and the outfits are within a few bucks of each other .

I'd take the Cross Water over the Wrangler if I wasn't using the Sage….
Redington is my go-to brand for anything fly fishing. They are an extremely overlooked brand and deserve more attention! All in all I love redington.

I read that Reddington was taken over by Sage about 4 – 5 yrs ago to get into the “middle” market and have improved quality
