I honestly love fishing. Not only do you get unexpected loot, you can get food. And if drowned spawn for me, it feels like every other one that spawns with a trident drops for me. I play on console FYI and I think I have like seven tridents lol.
The best treasure I've found so far in my current survival play is a fishing with mending, believe with jusy that small start I'm now in possession of the perfect fishing rod, already got 8 enchanted books, however I do have an issue with saddles since I've got too many
Okay I have a good problem but so far I've been looking to see if anyone has ever gotten the "God rod" while fishing I literally fished up a fully enchanted rod like literally a fully enchanted rod with the max lvl enchantments and mending like wthh
I’m pretty sure the depth of the water you fish in also factors into the efficiency of catching something. I was fishing from a boat in a swamp that had very shallow water and it took quite a while to get a bite. I rowed out about 25 blocks into a deep ocean and got significantly faster bites. I then rowed to another place in the same ocean where the floor was about 2-3 blocks from the surface, and had to wait noticeably longer than the deep ocean. Fishing from a boat in a deep ocean with a fully enchanted rod during rain is crazy efficient! I also suspect that fishing rates are improved when dolphins are near. Don’t know for sure, but it seems like I catch things faster when they’re swimming around me.
Also, I dug out a custom 5-block deep fishing area pretty deep underground in a pseudo 1-chunk game in Bedrock. If you do that in a lush biome, you get pretty strong fishing experience. Tropical fish even spawn in the water.
Side note: Pufferfish can be used to make water breathing potions. That’s useful if you want to scavenge sunken ships and underwater buildings or ruined portals but don’t have enchanted armor or scutes to extend underwater exploration.
I started my new world in 1.10.2, went afk fishing until I had a bow with infinity and mending, then upgraded the world to 1.21.11 and started properly.
Every time I watch a Minecraft fishing video, I keep waiting to see if anybody else has noticed that proximity to fish drastically reduces wait time. That’s why my biggest early-game milestone is a bucket. Make a small pond, fill it with fish, profit. YW.

Got several good books and like 5 fishing rods with the good enchants and 1, my main rod, with all the best enchants but has the vanishing curse of course 🤣
Just started game 3 days ago, and was out wondering and some zombie in the water attacked me, so I killed it. Ended up getting a fishing pole with Mending, luck of the sea 2, and unbreaking 3 on it.. No idea what any of these were and decided to go fishing.. FIshing rod was almost zero on durability and it said unbreakable so I used it. After an hour of fishing the rod is full durability and i got a few books while doing it.
tip for beginners when making a water breathing potion its redstone dust that makes it last longer not glowstone dust; also for a cheaper alternative to golden apples you can brew turtle helmets to make turtle master potions, for a long fight light with the ender dragon add redstone for more resistance like with the wither add glowstone
I kind of miss the older way of afk fish farming. It was my major way of getting mending books. Even if the only good pick was an iron one the mending enchant helped out a lot. I do understand why it was nerfed.
One of the first things I ever do in a world is make a fish farm (JC Playz version). The second i get a lava and water bucket, im making the farm. Pair that with a fisherman villager and not only do you have a steady stream of enchant books and food, but you can get tons of emeralds by selling all 4 fish types you fish up to them. Considering a fisherman only requires a simple to build barrel as a job block, its a bo brainer to pair with fishing imo.

i cant say if it is correct, but if you put 2 fish in a 2×2 area next to your fishing area it will help you get more items on bedrock faster

Most people don’t have sting as base spawn loot so instead use 14 emeralds. bruh

This reminded me that chest boats exist, I should definitely use one when I fish next haha
