Teleportation potions are probably not normally worth it but they're great in journey mode imo if you're trying to find statues and paintings especially if you haven't made the DCU yet
You can just swap to another hotbar item and then back to the fishing rod and immediately re-cast when the sonar potion shows you something you don't want. This doesn't consume bait and lets you instantly try again. I'm surprised this wasn't mentioned.
The sonar potion is great because of the audio cue. Don't have to look at your screen to fish. Bonus points for mapping left click to spacebar and fishing with your big toe.
To add to wormhole potions, you can shimmer a recall potion to get specular fish, alas at a reduced rate, but you get so many of those potions that it doesn't matter as much for throwing 100 recalls into shimmer and getting back 60 fish
Pretty sure 1.4.5 updated quest fish mechanics because now if I talk to the angler *before fishing* and then go fish in his quest fish biome, I get it within 2-5 catches maximum.
Without talking to him, I can go 50+ catches without a quest fish, but the fact that it takes 1:30 minutes maximum to catch a quest fish after talking to him? 25 times in a row????? That can't be A coincidence
Ive actually made a script for a macro that autofish 😆 Applies potions and buffs when the run out. I wanted wings and the phone before hard mode. So I went overkill.
This is a blatant Firefly and Lightning bug erasure! Firefly is decent in power and extremely easy to amass, while Lightling Bug matches Nightcrawler in power and is just as easily massable as Firefly.

Fishing is genuinely my least favourite part of Terraria and the necessity of it has made me play less.
