At the tip of the rod they pull it, that's the quickest way to break a rod ??????
must be a shit rod then, as the amount of bending a rod does when a fish runs , puts more strain on a tip than that.

That'a really something to hear. Rainbows have to be killed. I didn't know they were such an invasive fish. Here they are considered to be a prize fish. A lot of fly fisherpeople catch them for sport and release them to grow bigger. We have a real problem with a thing called, "diddy mo", which is sort of a parasite thing that kills our fish. We're trying to eradicate it, but it keeps growing. People who wade are streams are asked to clean their waders thoroughly to avoid taking it and contaminating other water ways. Thanks for the reply.

A second thought on this video is that to load the road in the backcast to the max don't come back past one o'clock. The more vertical the rod is on the backcast the more power you can generate in the forward cast. Also, learn how to haul and double haul if you want distance.

For a man concerned with catching large trout he's using the worst knot possible. Sorry, a granny square knot would be worse. Forget clinch and improved clinch knots. Start tying a Uni and Double Uni knots and you'll not lose nearly as many fish due to breakage.

Simon, you cast like magic. I now have an aspirational target: to shoot for the ability to roll cast for adding several feet of distance.

I think it would be fabulous to see a video of you working a wild lake. That fishery pond made me think of the difference between walking a golf course and backpacking in wilderness.

I had a lesson with Richard at blakewell in August this year 2019 whilst on my summer holiday, a really nice guy and well worth the money, a beautiful place to fish, it also has a great cafe and lovely staff. I have already done course and sea fishing and now I can’t wait to get some fly gear and get out there. So if you’re in north Devon and fancy a go get down there you won’t regret it.👍

It can be very intimidating starting or. I don't particularly want to buy 10 different types of line. If I have only floating line and want to sink a nymph, Can I jus add a split shot to it?
