Someone help me out- I fish in all of these legendary locations and I’m always sure to use the right lure. I always catch a good bit of decent fish but NEVER a legendary fish. This is my third play through and I’m reaching for 100% but I must be doing something wrong. I know I’ve already spoken to the fisherman at Gill’s landing as well. Can anyone help me separate catching regular fish versus legendary fish? Thanks!

That's the advantage to playing on PS2 vs. PC without a stick. You cannot lift the rod up in the air, only side to side, which works most of the time, then again it is an advantage to having a 3rd dimension in pulling them in…

I'm doing everything you say, holding R just a tiny bit to avoid too much line going out. pulling up then reeling, catching the fish very close to me. but 5min into it the fish is half way across the the river, it gets farther in time rather than closer. and im following your as well as other advice precisely. If I try to prevent this by holding R a little bit more, it snaps, if i dont the fish gets further out and i lose it. I lost 20 lures in a row and in 4hours of fishing without catching a sturgeon (regular not legendary) super frustrating. any additional tips would help. Could it be that my level is too low for bigger fish? Sounds a bit weird that its this difficult to catch a fish.

3 problems. (1) Don't cast the line too far. (2) The L3 on ps4 hurts the thumb like hell. (3) To keep the fish from going back, on R3, I quickly count 1, 2, let go, 1, 2 ,let go. If you don't let R3 go for a half second the line will break. For eating, large or small fish yield the same amount of meat. So minimize struggle by catching small fish.
