thats interesting. Here in canada in BC, anytime there is murky water or less clarity and turbidity, ive always gone with dark. black an blue. Its worked without fail, but I guess everyone has there experiences! and if it's super clear water, smaller pink fly. This is river fishing for me in British Columbia that is, and I don't float fish, but just swing flies, either intruders or something like the hobo spey pattern!

Do you guys do steelhead guided trips in Pennsylvania? I usually go to elk and crooked creek. Just getting into fly fishing and would like to speed up my learning time and learn correctly.

Excellent information. Thanks for sharing. In what little steelheading I’ve done in the Great Lakes area I had the best luck stripping streamers down stream or down and across. Straight across the current or upstream were never productive and neither was swinging a streamer. I don’t know how you guys feel about it but that was my experience.
