Back in the day, you didn't need to go to any specific zone to level your fishing because skill-ups were based on "Successful Catches" not "what you catch". As such you could technically level your fishing from 1-300 standing in your faction's major cities. (except for the 225 Nat Pagle quest) In fact it was technically faster to skill-up in town because when the fishing is trivial and success is high. They just come further apart, for instance you might have to catch 5 per skill-up, then near 300 you may need to catch 8 per skill-up.

im soooo tired of that background song goin on loop in every video, over and over and oooover. its slightly too loud to, competing with punkrats voice making it even more annoying

Nice vid – but keep in mind prices are different from server to server, or even prices tend to vary on the same server as well. Like 2 weeks ago, on my server, Pyrewood Village – firefin snapper and fire oil were selling hardly above vendor price. If you take auction fee into account, these items werent worth auctioning, but this might change over time. So check the market regurarly and stock items if you have the space for them …

Summary and Additions: At level 5 you can pick up apprentice fishing. At skill 75, AND CHARACTER LEVEL 10, you can get trained for Journeyman. Don't be like me and go crazy because the trainer is ignoring you, it's your level, it's too low. At 150, AND CHARACTER LEVEL 20, travel to Booty Bay and buy The Bass and You from Old Man Hemming (1 gold) to learn Expert. At level 225, AND CHARACTER LEVEL 35, do the quest from Nat Pagle to learn Artisan. The fish drop almost immediately for this quest and I did it at level 35, so you can too. You don't need the Big Iron Fishing Pole from the traps at Shadowprey. By the time you can handle the creatures there, you are almost level 35 anyway and Nat gives you a better pole. You don't need very many fishing lures at all. You need them at level 1, and at end game, or during the fishing contest, but you won't be fishing in places that are at such an advanced level that you can't fish there, the mobs will just grief you. In other words, your fishing is going to advance faster than your character. Fishing is THE companion profession for tailors. The bound trunks drop a LOT of cloth and leather. My tailoring is currently at 239 and I'm making mageweave bags for all my alts. I got all of my mageweave and almost all my silk from fishing. That's how much cloth comes from these trunks. My priest is level 39, and I'm fishing the river in northern Strangelthorne Vale which yields the iron bound trunks (silk and mageweave). This morning, I got 24 in about an hour and a half. You are guaranteed about 12-14 per hour. When I ding 40, I'll be able to fish the coast for the much more lucrative mithril bound trunks. These drop more money, better drops, patterns, mageweave and runecloth. Check it out on Wowhead. Other tips: Raise your camera when fishing wreckage, it bobbs in the water and can prevent you clicking on your bobber when the fish bite. Also, if a fishing node is across a waterway, do not run to the point opposite to cross. Instead, cross first and approach the node from the land. Sometimes, the damn eels in the river attack and you get stuck in combat and can't fish. Because of the crocks, the Stranglethorn river requires low to mid 30s. I hear the coast of Westfall is great too for the iron bound trunks. Happy fishing everyone.

How can you miss the most lucrative thing in fishing to talk how about? You forgot entirely to mention Azshara's "Patch of Elemental Water" pools to fish in, running that swimming circuit can next you 5+ essence of water in one loop of the bay of storms. If noone else is giving you competition on spawns!

One thing you didn't mention is that chest can drop out of any pool. I spent 45 min run up and down the coast of Tanaris just fishing pools and got 24 mithril chests.

holy shit its deeeeeviate, (D'viate??), a real English word, the language you speak, learn to say the words you intend to speak before you say them to potentially every human in existence.

I'm sorry for being a dick, but fuck, I would say that literally the least you could do for your supporters is speak English.

    Thanks,

    Some guy

Fishing is great for Hunter pets like cat pets. I fished my butt off just for my cat pet since you can put fish on your bar next to feed pet works wonders to keep that pet happy. I suggest if you tend to sit and fish bring music and fish to your delight it will get boring but very rewarding when you get the fish off hands.

Keep the twink guide until battlegrounds release, you should however do a best in slot/items to keep until said battlegrounds arrive.

Like don't sell x weapon until x patch type of deal.

another pointless video to make money. Want to fish? go to barrens, stand by WC and catch deviates until your 300. Dont move. Nothing else is worth your time. Just go farming and buy winter squid, they cost nothing. Area where you fish doesnt matter, only total amount caught matters when trying to skill up. EX: every 8 fish at 240 will gain you a skill. What a garbage video.

  12. Nick Brown says:

Classic must have increased drop rates, i caught all the fish i needed within 5 casts, except the swamp of sorrows one. That one took me 15 casts, 10 casts in the southeast corner, moved to the middle between the murlocs and got it on the 5th cast.

Great guide man. I am not a very experienced player. I am newish and I love the game. But every guide I find is all about later game stuff and I could not find another guide for any profession that covers the beginning this well. If you read this, awesome job and I appreciate it!

can you choose your reward if you manage to win the extravaganza? the fish is super cool, and i would always prefer it always the rod, but since im playing druid now, its kind of a waste^^ or is it better than aquatic form?

  15. Stephen Thompson says:

hold on sorry, what? dual wield tanks? i am seeing a trend here and in game, please help end it. just being a warrior does not make you a tank. being a fury/arms warrior does not make you a tank, it makes you a DPS warrior. equipping a shield does not make you a tank, it makes you a nerfed DPS that healers hate. please help end this im a tank crap, a tank warrior is a prot warrior, a tankadin, well im horde.. adding a shield is not tanking, being a warrior is not tanking. pleaseeeeeeeeee help stop this myth.
