Subscribed, haven’t bought any fly fishing equipment yet but been watching a lot of you videos trying to learn. Still can’t figure out what a tippet is. Sorry for the dumb question.
I'm assuming the leader would have to be detached from the fly line so that you can pull it through. Wouldn't it make more sense to wrap the tippet end through? Thanks for the great videos
your channel is excellent it has showed me everything i always wanted to know about fishing i'm about to buy my first fly rod i can't wait 9ft fast action wt9 thank you so much.ALIEN
thank you so much this knot saved me befor this i couldent tie my smaller flies because the leader was getting durther to the butt but now i can thank you aND ITS SO EASY
If the butt section of your leader is attached to your fly line how do you take it through the loop? You’d have to detach it from your fly line, wouldn’t you? How is this better? There are many knots that don’t require that.
How much tippet do you add? Do add just the missing length, e.g. 1 foot like you mention on the video, or you replace the entire tippet length and tie the news tippet to the leader where it starts to get larger? Did I make myself clear?
Question, how do you pull the butt end through the loop if the leader is connected to the fly line? Do you have to disconnect the leader first? If so why not just replace the leader? Sorry, I'm a newbie.:)
Can you use this same knot to attach the leader to the fly line? The reel I bought to start with does not have line with loop. I know I can upgrade it to line with a loop but until I do I'd like to know if it'd work. Thank you
Love fly fishing even using E. Tx. bass fishing methods. I very much like your way of tying a leader to fly line and a tipit to fly line. I have a fly line on my reel and because I did not know how to tie correct knot I used one of those barbed eyelets to attach leader. Should I just scrap fly line or what? I have not fly fished for quiet a while, but in younger years fished a lot on stream in back of mom and dads cabin and caught quiet a few Rainbows and some Browns. Thanks for your tutorials and advice.
Thanks for the surgeons knot! There is not a problem bringing the tippet end through twice instead of the leader end is there? I noticed you said to bring the leader end through twice which would make it done prior to leader to line. Thank, just starting fly fishing at 65, love it!
I've wanted to fly fish for years. Your simplified teaching approach is second to none. A ton of info but given clearly. Can't wait to get my first rod and start practicing!
Would a palomar knot be as good as a cinch knot?
Awesome instructional videos

I like easy to learn videos this was in that category thank you 🙏
Thank you sir…I've watched several other videos and didn't quite get it…you've made it look easy …now I'll be able to get it
Me again…will this knot work when attaching the leader to the fly line?
is it ok to use a double uni knot ?
For some reason this knot always snaps on me when I wet it, but not when i leave it dry. Isn't it supposed to be stronger when you wet it?

Can we use a blood knot? Let me be more clear…. There is a reason to use surgeons knot above otrhers?

Is the Surgeon's knot good for making the main part of a hand-tied leader or must I use a blood knot?
