Will the fly not give you any type of rope burn/fly line burn while youre holding the line as the fish takes off? Im used to tuna fishing where the reels start screaming when theres a big fish on and taking line

This was a great tip…especially the last part on rod angle to fight the fish with the butt of the rod as opposed to the tip by lowering the rod. This will minimize rod breakage. Thanks

Ok so I just got my first fly fish rod and I have two primary questions if someone can please help

    1) The line is constantly in free spool so it gets dragged without resistance. If there is a fish on it how do you fight it since they can just take all the line? I see the videos show theres a locking mechanism but I havent figured out how to do that.

    2) My reel lever is on the left side and im right handed…how do I switch it? Any advice?

    Would appreciate any help

This Fly Fishing shirt is cheap and fit great. I bought my bf two shirts. I was worried that it wouldn't fit. They came a day before expected which was nice. I was impressed. The material is Good. My bf is very happy with the shirts. I would definitely order more for my bf.

Great video this may sound it's just so frustrating to give small, unintelligent animals any type of respect. It's a fish all I want is something to do and to produce food. I feel like I should be able to choke slam the fish and punch it in the face. Not out of disrespect just out of hunger and physical and mental superiority. I mean you have to respect it and i really don't like respecting it I want to kill it and eat it. Fishing shouldn't ever be a sport since when was a way of life finally not tiringly tied to the economy not a way of life but a sport that's lame. But seriously, people are small. Fish are very very small. I hate respecting them I feel like I should just be able to run in the water and kick their ass. Great video. Maybe I'm too hungry to fish I might need to call bobby flay. Just, I'd like to catch it instead of paying for it wall the time. I enjoy fishing I just really connect the idea to food more than almost anyone ever. It's a way of life. I just hate being gentle with such a watery tiny moron. Like I don't think fish are necessarily beautiful they are pretty good. They just matter a lot more on my dinner plate is all. All I'm trying to do is enjoy nature and produce food. Really fish, fuck em. I don't care. I just want to kill them honestly. Goodbye you're delicious next. But fly fishing is amazing, I really like it fish eat more bugs than anything and fly rods are so much fun. I just feel like I should be making and saving money producing food – unless I'm in a catch and release sticker fun area which is just for a lot of fun. Last area I went to like that I asked if they caught any abd they said 50-65 a person. That's fun. But i lose flies I want to save money eventually. It's an investment for future food not a sport. So, I need to make sure that fly just hooks so I can kill and eat my food. Sure fish are amazing now be amazing on my plate. They are so tiny and stupid and I'm the one having to up my game. Irony. Well it's fun. But seriously I brought my spices and fork in my pocket I'm going to eat if I can. Bigger fish are much better to cook. I love fly fishing but I'd fish with dynamite if it were legal I just am out for blood. I feel the majesty of nature sure it makes me not want to have to buy my next meal from the lame economy I want to buy it from the stream or lake. Sure it's very nature. I love that. Plus that's a great way to get food lets eat.

Sometimes when Im watching fly fishing videos, the fisherman will fight the fish by stripping only, they dont use the reel at all. Other times they will reel up all the slack and fight the fish with the reel. How do you know when to fight using only stripping or reel up the slack fast and use the reel?

sorry but I'm not gonna apply 6 pounds of pressure when fighting a trout on a 7x tippet. I'd rather fight 1 fish all day than go home at the end of the day fishless and flyless.

thx for the tips I've done that same movement in the past but once or twice a bass has pulled my fly line all the way and now all I had left is the backing line to use and when I got to that I started to fight back like basic fishing like for catfish I still got him but should I do that or should I just let him keep pulling the line then pull back when he relaxes next time I go fishing.

Excellent display by Peter, so many people out there I wish could watch this.  Just hated to watch idiots fight fish with the rodtip and then, after breaking, use their warranty over and, probably, over again….

Now I was just wondering, since you apply more pressure when fighting with the butt of the rod, will that break your line if you are using light tackle and are fighting a decent fish? In this case, does that mean if you are using light leaders and tippet that you should fight a decent fish with the tip of the rod? Any help is appreciated, I was just wondering.

Hello, thats so far one of the best vids I've seen, and it doesn't only apply to fly fishing, I use the same method (going sideways) when lure fishing, it just seemed natural and I lost way less fish due to becoming unhooked compared to fighting with the tip when fighting fish like that. One thing that remains unclear to me- how do you recognize a take? Do you feel it on the rod, or do you observe the fly line like some lure fisherman when jigging with high-vis braid? (mostly interested in fishing a sinking or moderate lines) Thank you very much 🙂
