I am really proud of myself! I have everything on the list except the battery operated air pump. The reason why I do not have one is I have purchased a multi outlet battery backup system. I have 2 aquariums hooked up to it in which the filters, heaters and air pump are on the outlets that will kick on in the event of a power outage. I sure that most aquarium hobbyists will agree with me on having this system in lieu of a battery powered air pump.

My syphon hoes is worn out i have had it for years and have used the hell out of it. I like the old fadshion kind myself i find it a lot easier to use than the ones you hook up but that's just me..

couple things I would add to this List: Seachem Prime, it is a godsend (it does everything in his water conditioner part in one bottle) a Hardness test kit if you are keeping cichlids or shrimps you will need one, and a backup filter incase something breaks 😛

  6. Michael Lou says:

Oh don't forget lots and lots of batteries for that emergency pump…..multiple sets would be even better and always replace batteries each year so you are sure you have good batteries.

Thank you SO much!! When I bought my fish nobody told me jack even after I told the "fish experts" I'm new to the hobby or telling them my fish died. All they said "oh you need to buy this" every single time. I'm going to take your advice since I have recycled my tank 3 times (yes each time I killed my fish) the first time was the sales guy told me it must be my HOB filter (no advice, dead fish). So thank you..
