thanks, i just ordered 10 goldfish from amazon and i haven't had a clue on what to do. i will make a video introducing them and the process of shopping for them. if you guys want to see that subscribe to my channel and wait a couple days. you can unsubscribe right after.
I have a 10 gallon tank -black sand, and pebbles(rinsed) -live aquatic plants (sat for a week including substrate) -hava an external filter -Air pump with check valve, and an airstone -A heater with a thermometer (80 degrees) -LED lights -And some artificial plants(rinsed) -an outside rock cleaned with 1 part vinegar 3 parts water -Water is declorinized and what not I placed the fish a week later -I have a glass stained fish -1white molly -1 orange black molly -1 Tiger stripes snail -5 ghost shrimp
I am really proud of myself! I have everything on the list except the battery operated air pump. The reason why I do not have one is I have purchased a multi outlet battery backup system. I have 2 aquariums hooked up to it in which the filters, heaters and air pump are on the outlets that will kick on in the event of a power outage. I sure that most aquarium hobbyists will agree with me on having this system in lieu of a battery powered air pump.
My syphon hoes is worn out i have had it for years and have used the hell out of it. I like the old fadshion kind myself i find it a lot easier to use than the ones you hook up but that's just me..
couple things I would add to this List: Seachem Prime, it is a godsend (it does everything in his water conditioner part in one bottle) a Hardness test kit if you are keeping cichlids or shrimps you will need one, and a backup filter incase something breaks 😛
Oh don't forget lots and lots of batteries for that emergency pump…..multiple sets would be even better and always replace batteries each year so you are sure you have good batteries.
You can sub aquarium salt with kosher salt with no preservative or canning salt. Much cheaper, always available at the local supermarket and did I say really cheap.
Awesome! All i need now is a battery powered Airpump and one more heater. I have Stress Coat and Water conditioner, do you recomend stress Zyme as well? Whats the difference between Zyme and Coat?
Thank you SO much!! When I bought my fish nobody told me jack even after I told the "fish experts" I'm new to the hobby or telling them my fish died. All they said "oh you need to buy this" every single time. I'm going to take your advice since I have recycled my tank 3 times (yes each time I killed my fish) the first time was the sales guy told me it must be my HOB filter (no advice, dead fish). So thank you..
✋😂Hehehehe hey john don't forget to to lean to read remember that..👏✋😄😂😂😂😂😂Hehehehe😄😂 LoL I can't stop cracking up over here that's so funny you had me laughing so hard 😄😂by that guy's comment 😀😁😄😂
You don’t need all of these only if your getting a huge tank!
I'm sorry but that General care has done nothing to help my fish
Fantastic video!
John, can you do a video on identifying different african cichlids? Or do you know of a book that does a good job of this? Thanks.

Thank you I seriously wrote it all down great Job with your aquariums very beautiful
Lol, you had to mention the bucket.
Great video! Thanks for all the info
you don't need battery operated pump. A back ups will back up your light pumps and everything in case of power outage.i think it's abertter solution.
What's the difference between stress reliever from API and tap water conditioner?
im pretty sure we dont put bleach into drinking water that is automatically filtered out in the filtration process
i am planning to get a fish today im gonna change 50percent of the water to keep it clean every day
How about API Erythromycin and API Triple Sulfa? Do the meds you list cover these as well?
I have questions :
1. Is aquarium salt really needed even if my fish is fine?
2. How much aquarium salt should you put in a 7.5 gallon cube tank?
btw: I have a betta
My syphon hoes is worn out i have had it for years and have used the hell out of it. I like the old fadshion kind myself i find it a lot easier to use than the ones you hook up but that's just me..
Walmart open till 12 o’clock
All of these things available in ocean?
70 % Hog wash
I recommend you buy a battery operated air pump in the fishing section of Walmart it’s like six dollars and works great
thank you! Really helpful in preparing
Thanks so much John. Happily I have all of the 10!
Aquarium salts are not raising hardnes, it raises salinity in the water!!!

If you have a canister filter its a good idea to have a spare impeller just in case the one you have fails.
