I prefer a proper beachcaster rod and reel setup and being able to cast properly.
Lazy fishing but understand why its used for shark fishing in South Africa.
And I can imagine in south Africa you use large capacity reels to get further distance

You funny, just put a piece of thin wood. Put a slit in the wood. Set up your bait. Go forward to take your bait out. Turn your drone around and reverse. Or just reverse. But what you got works great

I got an idea for you Senko Skipper, try to get RC Boat with trolling rig on it. Let see if you actually catch any fishes. Does anybody want to see that? I would like to see it for sure.

I've tried this several times in the past, in general, I can tell you it is a VERY bad idea. First of all, the only useful application to fly 300 yards out would be fishing for sharks. You will need at least 6oz sinker and large chunk of bait. Everything else you can easily catch from the surf. There is no way you can fly this drone one mile out, your line will get wet and very heavy and it will drag the drone down alone with bait, sinker and wind.
Now, about what can happen. The drone has not been designed to fly with a weight. Sinker, bait, wet fishing line, wind make this drone extremely unstable and it occasionally goes into an error mode. I have one drone that just crashed in the ocean. Another one lost control and started returning home with all fishing line and bait attached. If wind is too strong, the fishing line may get into propels. But in worse case scenario, the drone may lose control and crash on someone's head. Guess who will be liable? I am not even sure if it is legal to fly with all this weight attached.
P.S. You do not fish for a kingfish with a dead shrimp. Good luck!

It’s better to leave the bail closed, but the drag really loose. Because if the bail accidentally closes your drone goes down, if the line is leaving the spool really fast and tangles on one the the guides your drone goes for a swim (happened to me). Look into getting a Gannet Bait Release system, definitely worth it. And in case you drone goes down (let’s hope it never happens) and you recover it, remove the battery immediately, open the drone, rinse with fresh water then alcohol and leave covered with rise for 5 days.

Why don't you just make it so you don't have to get off the couch. Just run the whole fishing adventure from your computer. Then you won't have to put out any effort in Casting or Catching, just have the drone drop the fish in your frying pan too.. LOL Salute
