Any good "hot weather" weight forward fly line will work just fine for the ladyfish. For your leader go with a straight 8' shot of 40# mono. Check the leader just above the fly from time to time, as the ladyfish have an abrasive mouth. You'll have to retie occasionally. Flies with artificial fibers will last a lot longer than bucktail. Have fun. Capt Baz
Brandon. That was a lot of fun with the Spanish. Keep up the good work with your fly rod. The 9wt you were using was a Temple Fork "Professional " series. You ought to get one. The TFO 0375 large arbor reel is well matched for that rod, and it's not too expensive (for a fly reel). Hope you can visit again sometime. Baz
looks like fun on a bun
I LOVE fishing and throwing bait out when the fish are feeding like this
What time of day and what location is the best to do this type of fishing. I will be down there in August with my fly rod!
Here's a tip: Don't throw right into the fire, throw the fly on the outskirts of the boils, you will do better , trust me ..
this is exaclty what i was doing earlier today, except there were some redfish in the mix of ladyfish
Those things are so hard to catch…… They know how to get off a hook.
yeah..they are fun and make great shark bait
