if you think the old Mitchells are built to Last you should buy an old alvey Reel… they are just about Bomb Proof, you can bury them in the Sand, dig it out, go wash it in the Surf and it's good to go. some of My Alveys are My great grandfathers over 80 years old and still work Like brand New, you just Can't kill them.
I own a few old Shakespeare, Southbend, and Pflueger baitcasters. Some are from the 50s and 60s but my favorite is a Shakespeare Bicentennial 1975 baitcaster given to me from my sister.
Hello Youtube, I am relatively new to fishing and I live in Australia. I was just wondering the easy way/s to attach the hook and sinker to your line and which order for jetty and pier fishing. I know this is a very stupid question but I am just curious, Thanks in advance! 🙂 REPLY
I love the old Vintage reels and started collecting about 3 months ago and have 3 now and 1 on the way from eBay. Thanks for the info . What is the name of your Facebook page ? I do enjoy your videos hope your leg gets better soon so you can get back out soon.
Very cool. I have a vintage reel fetish as well. Mostly 70's and 80's but hands down my 2 favs are Penn Jigmaster 500 and Penn Levelmatic 940. Bought my 10 year old son a Garcia Mitchell 622, he loves it. Love to join your club but I don't do Facebook.
Really cool! I remember and grew up when Michell's were the pinnacle of reel design..:) I really enjoy the view into the past…I have a couple of Mitchell's and Shimano's as well (from the 1980's) I'm Interested in those die cast reels that transitioned from the 1980's until the modern designs late 1980's into the 1990's. Diawa's and Shimano's really built good stuff in that era…have a few of those as well. Of course the reel I grew up with….shoveling driveways and raking leaves defining the budget were the Japanese build Berkely's..:)
Me 100% my dad and I, we some reels all the way from the 1920's, we also collect old lures and rods I have a full steel shaft rod, and bamboo rods from when the used to catch huge tuna with Kane pools. Message me on Instagram if you have any questions my username is just my YouTube username , sorry I don't have a Facebook
Nice collection. I’ve seen a few older reels in an antique store. I am going to go back and take a better look. Hope everything continues to go well with your leg. You two are awesome.i wish my girl would show some interest in my fishing world. Thanks for your time guys.
The new Star Reel S7000 & S8000 was made by the designer of the Penn 700 series. He made the Star Reel with the easy maintenance and upkeep in mind. Check it out! I want to get one for the canal.
Mitchell reels were very popular in the UK from the 1950's to the mid 80's, the 300's were the dogs fresh water specimen fishing reel for pike, carp, etc and the Mitchell match with the automatic bail was the most popular for competition fresh water fishing with only 3lb test mono on it, I have somewhere a very old Mitchell if I find it I will send it to you! 👍🎣😁
I love good banjo playing. I'm a big Steve Martin fan. A band you may really like is 'The Hillbilly Goats'. I know those folks and they play some mean Bluegrass and old-time blues. Well worth checking out.
Love the channel Brendan and Erin. Have to say the banjo intro was incredible too though. Was that your brothers Erin?! Multi talented family! Let’s hear more from the brothers too!
I was given a new Penn 180 new in its vintage box.An old landlord lady gave it to me on my trash route.I operate garbage trucks.Took it surf fishing was casting and leader would hit the water reel kept spinning. The braid wood turn to a birds nest.Later 2 weeks was told my thumb was the drag…..fuck

What's the best braided line on the market?
I remember using a bail-less reel when I was a kid. It was pretty high-tech in its day.
