Our North Carolina favorite areas of 10+ years have been ruined by over publicizing endorsements by guides. We fish Montana, but send people to Big Sky, Ennis, and the Bitterroot, not to our favorite rivers.

As far as the locals are concerned about out of staters using "their secret fishing holes" not to big of a secret, found this on my own on a map, and later a local fishing shop sent me to the same place. Went during the week and I was the only one there.

@brhino101 The Clarkfork Coalition is claming that the Pike were already there in the Blackfoot River. In 40 years of fishing the Blackfoot I have never caught a Pike on the Blackfoot-only on the lower Clarkfork. (They are huge!) As far as "Warm water species goes, (Thats what the biologists call them) Pike live year around in Canada. It doesnt get any colder than that and yes they will migrate into and spawn on the Northfork of the Blackfoot. What the wolves did to our elk-PIKE are to Cutthroat

@MTroutable Because its fun to share. Also, you have to be nuts if you think this is some kind of out of the way fancy ass place. Got a car? Drive there dude.

@brhino101 that is very interesting. I wonder how pike or bass or other warm water fish would survive the cold water of the NF of the Black Foot? It is really really cold. Nevertheless, your comment is good. We should track this issue somehow.

The Cutthroat that are native to the Blackfoot River are now endangered from warm water species such as the Northern Pike. The Milltown and Bonner Dam were a natural barrier to the Pike. Now that they have removed both Dams, there is a significant threat to all native species in the wild Blackfoot River. The Blackfoot was one of my most favorite rivers to flyfish. I guess I will have to acquire a taste for pike.

here it stinking england, where the rich are SO rich and the poor are all crammed in 2 council estates, any good land and decent river gets privatised and you cant fish it, unless your a millionaire like david seaman or chris tarrent.
everywhere is private and off limits and trespassing etc.
here you only are allowed on footpaths and roads.
    hate the place.

Actually no. ARRTI was filmed mostly on the Gallatin near Bozeman if memory serves me. But, this river is top notch. It is the coldest, clearest river I've ever fished.
