Wrong. Depending on other stress factors such as water temperature, duration of fight, and location hooked, 3 minutes out of the water can EASILY kill a trout. And fish mortality normally presents some time after a fish is released and swims off.

This isn't meant to be a comment on the video, however. The fish there seemed to be held out of the water for a lot less than three minutes.

Adam and TheMetolious, you are right to be concerned about keeping fish out of water too long. The editing of this video perhaps makes it look as though the fish was out longer than it was. In the video, the fish is actually out of the water for just under 30 seconds, and not in any single stretch. (That is, it was returned to the water between shots.) Thanks for watching.

your going to kill fish if you hold them out of the water as longs as you did in this vid. catch and release. handle the fish as little as possible. Just because he swims of does not mean he survived
