You call this a fishing "guide"? Is basically your advice to "get some great gear and fish a lot"? Really? I thought this would give hints concerning: the best times to reel, how to anticipate the fish going the other direction, when to just tilt the joystick left/right without pulling (to let the fish wear itself out faster), how to tell how long you should be reeling before you can expect the fish to cause more tension on the line, or something… This is NOT a good guide, man…
RE-SPOOL THE LINE BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE. TALK ABOUT BACKSEAT FISHING. Repeat x 1000.
Turning "voice" all the way down in the audio settings is the absolute best advice anyone can give for FFXV's fishing. Having said that, I found I really enjoy it once I found that in the options menu!
I don't know if anyone has already said this but the line durability only drops when the tension meter goes red. If you've got the patience to stop reeling every time you see the 'tension' notification, your line will last way longer. It's probably not the most intensive fishing ground, but I've managed a full in-game night's worth of fishing at Galdin on one line of Spider Silk (until the fish ran out!).
Also, I think fishing is great because, if you get the AP reward point in the ascension tree, you get AP for every fish you catch and, if you're trying to amass plenty of XP before a hotel stay and don't want to go out and fight demons, you can always farm AP while fishing overnight.
I feel like something else good to mention would be that eating one of Noctis' favourite dishes helps level up the fishing skill faster. I could be wrong but I believe that's what the favourite dishes do.
get to lv 7 or 8 in fishing then do the quest for the best rod by the time your done you should hit lv 9 unless you get lucky and catch all the fish in one go then go to vesper pool and hunt for the Golden catfish or the leige of the lake
the thing with totomostro is you have to be lucky and its more often chances are against you so you have to keep going back to it over and over if you arent already on a roll. but if you have extra gil then you can bet a lot of medals but then again it all depends
Something he completely missed that threw me off when I first started is that the fish fights back. When you see the fish struggle/swim horizontal stop cranking the reel. If it's dark/ it's too far away listen for splashing. An example of this is on 4:21 notice how he suddenly gets red tension. The fish is struggling.
When luring fish don't hold the reel button instead just tap to jerk it back. There are some rare fish that will just look at your lure for 1/2 a second then lose interest if it moves too fast.
I'm almost at 50 hours (i've just been doing quests and hunts at chapter 6) and I've fished twice. Definitely not my favorite. Is there a real reason to level up his skill? Or do you just get better fish for ignis recipes?
keep up the good videos man. you have some of the best and most clear tutorials out there. once I finish up fishing this game is platinum then off to world of ff. any plans on making videos for that?

when ignis says, "it seems you've improve" it means you've gained enough xp to level your fishing skill

I think you can level faster by catching rainbow trout, they're very easy and fast to catch/reel and give good fishing exp
