Thank you! I love the way you tell your story. It's so refreshing to see someone show the journey, not just the money shot. Makes it seem attainable for a normal angler with enough time.

A few things, North Island has incredible diversity of fishing from small slow flowing crystal clear water to open braided shingle rivers and fast flowing mountain torrents but most rivers are full of trout and easy if sometimes overgrown access. You will get scratched legs.

If coming to visit I recommend a copy of John Kents trout fishing guide there are 3 books NI, SI, and a tourist one covering whole country. If it was me I would get the first 2 and forget the tourist one.

My man solo filmed a wet fly take on a 20" rainbow for his second ever new Zealand fish. What a legend.
I'm emigrating to NZ in about a year with the whole family. Can't wait to call this beautiful place home.

Glad you enjoyed yourself in our beautiful country 🙂 many people find it interesting just how different the north island and south Island fishing is! It can be tough here, but perseverance is what makes or breaks us. Nga mihi and haere ra!
