Love the color of that green dubbing. Ive been using olive UV micro polar chenille for mine. The bulk is an issue with the polar though. Looks like I'm going to be making some orders lol. Awesome fly for swinging wets if you need an anchor in deeper water.
Hey Tim, I was going through your tutorials and thought I would watch this one again. Thanks for sharing this. How are you, Heather and the baby? Miss talking to you periodically. All the best and God bless you all. Sean
Great Tie as always Tim. thank you for yet another great variant of the Hare's Ear. I believe it will do nicely in my favorite waters, well a variant of your variant. Yes!,!, I do have my own variant of the Hare's Ear. I call it the Flashy Fiend, and it is a Trout and Whitefish mauler. The pictures of the variant you would see on my instagram page are older generations of it, as is expected, my patterns have evolved. I'm saving my best for myself until the time is right, so I have not posted them. I would be glad to let you in on a sweet evolution of the Flashy Fiend Hare's Ear. Another great vid !!!! Keep up the good work … Maybe some outdoor stuff someday…. Or show ur shop!!! I tie in a slight olive variant .. R/s michael( foambug)
Thanks Tim for the Vid. Mostly the hare's ear I tie come from the mask. you have everything from beige to black. a coffee grinder will make anything in between by adding the different colors together. Bead or not to bead that is the question.
Tim, Great nymph that includes one of the classic materials….Hares Ear Dubbing. Someone who taught me told me Hares Ear and Peacock Herl are the two magic materials. I have yet to prove Jim wrong. Tim great tutorial…Thank You! Peace!
inspirational and good advices saw your Czech-style Hare's Ear Nymph too want to tie realy nice to be able to change the flies will be a great year this
one of my most productive flies that I modified from a hares ear is a size 16 hook with a brass bead and some natural hares ear dubbin. its that simple and it catches fish in my area
Are you using a new camera set up? The depth of field and lighting look different than previous videos. Great pattern. Thank you for the detailed description of the "variant".
Nice Video as always. I love fishing soft hackle patterns of any kind. Last year I was using a simple pheasant tail soft hackle nymph variant a lot after reading 'simple fly fishing' by Yvon Chouinard. I will definitely tie a few variants of these Guide's Choice flies before this years fishing season and I am sure they will catch well. Thank You Tim! Greetings from Europe, Leon
Hey Tim–Another excellent video, as always! Quick question-how, if at all, do you differentiate about what you dub onto your thread and create a noodle vs use a dubbing loop? Material based or part of fly based? Thanks! Ray

This looks a lot like a bead head birds nest with flair. Very cool looking fly.
Really nice video. A red hot spot just behind the bead works well for me on the guides choice
Great video as always except something got a bit bleached out with the lighting. I might have just missed it, but why did you tie on a jig hook?

Superbe tie as always! I like my tail even shorter. and try a burnt orange as it's the color of a molting insect.
Cracking nymph. So much quicker without the wing case.
