Sorry for the delayed response. I tie my own surf flies using dumbbell eyes, a lot of red and some flash mixed in. I use a size 4-6 hook. It's my own weird creation, but it gets the job done. It seems to attract bigger fish. So I won't generally catch big numbers. Instead bigger fish, which is fine by me.
